week 3

23 september 2018 - Kaarst, Duitsland

This week I started moving around in the classes. Especially when the teacher had to test the children individually I stayed in the class and gave them instructions while they were working in centers.

What are centers: In the classroom are different math and language games. They work on it in groups for 7 mins and then change clockwise to another exercise.

These tests are called CAT tests. These are made for monitoring the progress of the children. They make (mental math) exercises, read words and sentences in German and English. Some tests are classical, and some are individual with the teacher, like reading words. First, they spell out the sounds of the letters and then make a word of it. For example: log, ll-ooo-gg, log.

They learn to make mental math sums with A number line. This number line goes from 0 to 10(or more).

for example they get the sum 4+3

They put their finger on 4 and make 3 hops with the same finger wile counting to 3. Their finger ends on 7 so they know the answer is 7.

This weekend I had a photo shoot from my new costume.

Next week I get an official schedule for rotating in the classes.
